Codes of Conduct
Participants in all ATA meetings (virtual meetings, in-person meetings, and committee/workgroup meetings) shall agree to adhere to our codes of conduct. Please view the In-Person Meeting Code of Conduct and the Virtual Meeting Code of Conduct for more details.
In addition, all annual meeting faculty will be required to sign off and abide by the guidance within the ATA Speaker Consent Form at all times.
Conflict of Interest
The American Thyroid Association (ATA) requires clear disclosures from all presenters at its ATA meetings regarding any financial holdings, funding sources, or affiliations that might raise questions of bias or be perceived to have potentially influenced presentation content. ATA expects that all ATA meeting speakers, organizers, and moderators are committed to full, forthright, and transparent disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest. The Association has not prescribed an exhaustive list of potential conflicts here; rather, we ask presenters to make a good faith effort to identify any issues that might reasonably be expected to raise conflict-of-interest questions.
Presenters are asked to disclose any concerns or questions by contacting ATA staff at meetings@thyroid.org. Disclosures are published within the meeting program book or on signage during the live meeting and the speaker may also verbally state disclosures from the podium.
Social Media and Content Respect Policy
The strength of the ATA scientific meeting and other educational events is that speakers are able to present new and unpublished findings. It is imperative to refrain from recording and public dissemination of such unpublished data which might compromise future publication. As such, attendee and media audiotaping, videotaping, photography or the capture of content in any electronic form during ATA events is prohibited. Those interested in collecting or sharing ATA meeting content or related news for general or personal use, on Twitter, Facebook or other social networks, or for media-related purposes should request direct written approval from the speaker(s) in question. Courtesy in communications is encouraged by the ATA. (Speakers should be aware that most ATA events are open to the news media, and some are open to the public. ATA strongly encourages compliance with ATA speaker requests for respect of content regarding social media or other sharing but cannot guarantee it.)
ATA Meetings provide an international forum where scientific information is communicated among diverse fields, as well as more broadly among scientists, the media, policymakers, and the public. The American Thyroid Association is the leading organization devoted to thyroid biology and to the prevention and treatment of thyroid disease through excellence in research, clinical care, education, and public health.
Please note that content during the ATA Annual Meeting is under embargo until the time of the scientific session, poster session, or lecture, or the related news briefing (whichever comes first). Therefore, the substantive research content of events (i.e., the “news punch lines”) should be communicated online only when that research information is presented, during the scientific session or related news briefing.
Live-tweeting and sharing of ATA meeting news (noting exclusions above) on social media is sanctioned through social networks. For the ATA Annual Meeting and Twitter, please consider using the ATA Annual Meeting hashtags #atathyroid2024 or #americanthyroidassociation. Each year the hashtags remain the same and reflect the current year, e.g., #atathyroid2024 for the year 2024, #atathyroid2025 for 2025 and so forth.
Concerns and questions about this policy should be directed to ATA Meetings staff at meetings@thyroid.org.
